Abstract
This article investigates the phenomenon of semantic field shift of the word “wind” in Lưu Quang Vũ’s poetry based on semantic field theory, aiming to clarify its role in artistic expression. Using corpus analysis combined with statistical and descriptive methods, the study examines occurrences of “wind” to identify patterns of semantic shift. The findings show that “wind” possesses a diverse semantic structure and frequently shifts into other semantic domains, most notably the human domain, as well as the domains of objects and animals. These shifts are primarily realized through metaphor and metonymy, enabling “wind” to embody human actions, emotions, and sensations while generating highly symbolic imagery. The study thus concludes that semantic field shift significantly enhances the expressive capacity of poetic language, reflects Lưu Quang Vũ’s highly associative creative style, and underscores the important role of semantic field theory in literary linguistic analysis.
