Abstract

"As women achieve power, the barriers will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we’ll all be better off for it." — Sandra Day O'Connor.

Empowerment is a multi-dimensional social process that includes a state of mind as well as attitude of a person that helps people gain control over their own lives and in their society, by acting on issues that they consider as important. Empowerment occurs within sociological, psychological, and economic spheres and at various levels like individual, group, and community (Sharma, 2006) [17]. Women empowerment is any process that provides greater autonomy to women through the sharing of relevant information and provision of control over factors affecting their performance. (Sayulu, Sardar & Sridevi, 2005) [16]. the present paper is an attempt to highlight the importance of women's empowerment in today’s rapidly evolving world. It focuses on empowering women in different domains like education, sports, politics, and mental health.
